Payload capacity is the maximum weight you can add to your RV beyond its base weight. This includes passengers, pets, cargo, water, fuel, and propane.
Exceeding your payload capacity puts you at risk of tire blowouts, brake failure, and suspension damage. It also voids your warranty and can make your insurance invalid in case of an accident.
The maximum safe weight of your RV fully loaded. This is set by the manufacturer and should never be exceeded.
The RV as shipped from the factory with standard equipment and full fuel. Does not include water, propane, or dealer-added accessories.
The weight available for passengers, cargo, and supplies. Calculated as GVWR minus UVW minus full fresh water and LP gas.
Maximum weight each axle can safely carry. Important because you can be within GVWR but still overload an individual axle.
For trailers, the downward force at the hitch. Should be 10-15% of total trailer weight for proper handling.
